Clapton Community Seventh-day Adventist Church stands on the corner of Glyn Road. This is a short walk from Homerton High Street. You can reach it easily by buses 236, 276, 308, W15, 242, 488, and 425. The nearest train station is Homerton on the Overground line.
But this building wasn’t always a Seventh-day Adventist church. It was once St Paul’s. Henry Cowell Boyes designed it. It dates back to 1890-91. The church has a cruciform shape.
Before Clapton Community Seventh-day Adventist Church occupied it, the Celestial Church of Christ used the building. They installed low ceilings in the chancel and north aisle. These have since been removed.
Clapton Community Seventh-day Adventist Church came into being in March 2006. It became a place where people gather to share their commitment to serving Jesus Christ. The church is filled with people from many backgrounds.
Inside, the chancel holds a surprise. An organ from a disused Methodist church in County Durham dominates the space. In front of it, you’ll see a painting of Christ in Majesty. Eva Allen Andrews created this artwork between 1898 and 1900.

You are welcome to join the Clapton Community Seventh-day Adventist Church for services. Sabbath School for adults and children starts at 10 am on Saturdays. The main worship service is from 11 am to 1 pm. Bible study takes place on Saturday afternoons from 4 pm to 5 pm. Prayer meetings occur on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
