Fresh and relevant. That’s the vision Pastors Kent and Alli Munsey had when they planted City Church Chicago. It was October 2010. They wanted to bring the message of Jesus Christ to Chicago. They wanted to build a community. This community would love people to new life in Christ. It would live planted in community. It would lead change in the world.
City Church Chicago is a vibrant church. It is right in the heart of downtown Chicago. The church started in the River West neighborhood. Its address is 777 N Green Street.
In 2014, City Church became a Hillsong Family Church. This partnership connected the church to a worldwide community. It further empowered it to do God’s work in Chicago. The Hillsong Family is a group of like-spirited ministries. They work together for a greater cause.
Kent and Alli Munsey are the senior pastors. They have three sons. Their names are Malachi, Kausti, and Tahj. The Munseys love spending time with family. They enjoy the city too. This God-loving couple wants to make Jesus known. They want to make Him known in the Windy City and beyond.
City Church Chicago has four vision grips. These are give, serve, bring, and belong. We grab onto the vision by giving our time. We give our talent and treasure. We serve on a team. We bring others on the journey. We belong in community through groups.
City Church Chicago believes the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate and authoritative. It applies to our everyday lives. The church believes in one eternal God. He is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons. These are God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.
The church believes that sin has separated us from God. It has separated us from His purpose for our lives. It believes that Jesus Christ can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless life. He died on the cross for us. He rose again to prove His victory. He empowers us for life.
To receive forgiveness, we must repent. We must believe in Jesus Christ. We must submit to His will for our lives. We need to be baptized in water. We need to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use spiritual gifts.
City Church Chicago believes in the power of the Church. Believers need to meet for fellowship. They need to meet for prayer. God has equipped us. We can achieve His purpose. We can worship God. We can fulfill our role in the Church. We can serve the community. God wants to heal and transform us. We can live healthy lives. We can help others more effectively. Our eternal destination is determined by Jesus Christ. He is coming back again as He promised.
City Church Chicago aims to create opportunities. Jesus is presenced here. Lives are changed. Lives are transformed. Kent and Alli have been longtime members of Integrity Leadership Ministries. ILM provides rest for pastors. It provides relationships and resources. The Munseys are honored to serve as Directors. ILM has impacted them personally. It has been a source of support for their family.
