Isn’t it enchanting how places evolve? City Bell invites you to discover its story. This Argentine town began as a vision. It sits in the La Plata Partido of Buenos Aires. City Bell is only 10 kilometers from La Plata’s city center.

In the early 1900s, English immigrants settled here. George Bell led them. His heirs sold about 3 square kilometers to Sociedad Anónima de City Bell in 1913. The goal was to create a new town by reselling the land. The Provincial Legislature authorized City Bell on May 10, 1914. The City Bell train station also opened that year. It was part of the Buenos Aires Great Southern Railway.

However, the community grew slowly. Much of the land became farms. Eventually, more people settled here. Amenities appeared. The local electric utility started in 1922. A larger train station opened in 1925.

In 1944, City Bell became home to the Argentine Army’s Communications Battalion 601. It was strategically placed between Buenos Aires and La Plata. This location was along the former National Route 1. It is now known as Camino Centenario.

Today, City Bell offers many recreational spots. The Municipal Ecological Park spans 200 hectares. The City Bell Athletic Club hosts the Regional Folklore Festival since the 1960s. You can also find the Teatro de Cámara here. Golfers and equestrians enjoy their clubs. The Gauguin Art Gallery opened in 1984. The City Bell Cultural Center began in 1997. Even the Bank of the Province of Buenos Aires has an athletic club here for its staff.

City Bell has a rich cultural scene. The City Bell Athletic Club hosts regional folklore festivals. The Gauguin Art Gallery showcases paintings and drawings. The City Bell Cultural Center hosts various events.

The town’s location is defined by specific boundaries. These borders were set by the La Plata City Council in 2016. They include Villa Elisa Canal and the General Belgrano Railway.

In 2022, City Bell had 41,084 residents. It features low houses with large gardens. This creates a garden suburb feel. Commercial activity thrives. Parque Centenario and Calle Cantilo are popular for shopping. The Municipal Ecological Park separates City Bell from Villa Elisa. The Arroyo Rodríguez separates it from Manuel B. Gonnet. The climate is temperate and humid due to its proximity to the Río de La Plata.

City Bell continues to evolve. Its gastronomic options grow. The town maintains a vibrant artistic and cultural life. The Club Atlético, cultural y de fomento City Bell is a hub. The Centro Cultural City Bell adds to the scene. The Galería de Arte Gauguin inspires artists.

Take a stroll around. Imagine the early settlers. Picture the farms that once dominated the landscape. Feel the community spirit that defines City Bell today. From its origins to its present-day vibrancy, City Bell offers a unique glimpse into Argentine suburban life.
