Did you know that the Church of God of Dallas Fort Worth has a fascinating origin story? It begins with Malayalee Pentecostal believers. These believers migrated to the United States from the late 1960s. Many aimed to attend Bible colleges. They engaged in spiritual activities.

As they became permanent residents in America their families joined them. The Malayalee Pentecostal community grew in the DFW area. It now includes over 35 churches. Thousands of families are part of it.

In the early 1980s few Malayalee Pentecostal churches existed in DFW. Believers in North Dallas traveled far for fellowship. They desired a church of their faith nearby. Thus, the North Dallas Church of God was established. It was registered with the state of Texas in 1985.

It became the first Malayalee Pentecostal Church in Dallas’s northern suburbs. The official inauguration took place at Farmers Branch Church of God on June 29 1985. Rev Wayne Blackshear inaugurated the church. He affiliated it with the Church of God organization. This is an international Holiness Pentecostal Christian denomination. Its headquarters are in Cleveland Tennessee.

The Church of God is the oldest living Pentecostal denomination. Its origins trace back to 1886. A small meeting of Christians occurred at the Barney Creek Meeting House. This was on the Tennessee/North Carolina border. Today it is the second largest Pentecostal denomination. Worldwide membership exceeds 6 million. They are in over 150 countries.

The first worship service of North Dallas Church of God took place on May 12 1985. It was held at Bro Babu K Iype’s residence. Evangelist Johnson Varughese became the first pastor. Bro Babu K Iype was the church Secretary and Clerk.

From the beginning Satan tried to destroy the church. Despite these attacks the church grew. It became a major Malayalee Pentecostal church in the DFW area. From humble beginnings God greatly blessed the church. It became a blessing to the community. It also blessed other churches organizations and individuals. Their goal is to spread God’s love. They want to help the needy. They proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Church of God of Dallas Fort Worth stands as a testament to faith. It shows resilience and community spirit.
