Why is Church of Christ Our Peace International – Sen Sok so important to Phnom Penh? The Anglican Church of Cambodia began its ministry here. King Sihanouk allowed the Anglican Church to minister in Cambodia in 1992. The Archbishop of Canterbury requested this.

In 1993, the Bishop of Singapore appointed Rev Dr John Benson as the first Dean of Cambodia. That same year, the Church of Christ Our Peace International – Sen Sok began. It was the first Anglican church with English and Khmer-speaking services. Rev Donald Cormack served as the first Vicar.

In 1996, Rev Mok Wai Mung and his wife Mee Hwa succeeded Rev Cormack. They pioneered new Khmer-speaking outreaches. These churches were mostly in rural areas. Rev Tit Hieng was appointed Vicar of Church of Christ Our Peace International – Sen Sok in 2007. Rev Wong Tak Meng became Dean, operating from Singapore.

The Church of the Good Shepherd started in 1999. Rev Chai Lip Vui reached out to Chinese Cambodians in Phnom Penh. Deaconess Bessie Lee pioneered Project Khmer Hope in 2000. This training center in Kampong Speu Province equipped young Cambodians. They learned skills in hospitality and healthcare.

In 2013, Church of Christ Our Peace International – Sen Sok welcomed Fr Gregory Whitaker. He became Priest-in-Charge of the English-speaking congregation. Rev Jesse Blaine was ordained in 2015. He pastored the Khmer congregation. Ps Pov Morn, a Cambodian, now pastors this congregation.

Work to rebuild Church of Christ Our Peace International – Sen Sok began in 2016. It finished in August 2018. The new building was consecrated that year. It celebrated 25 years of ministry in Cambodia. Rev Steven Seah became the fourth Dean of Cambodia in 2019. Rev Tit Hieng was installed as Vicar of the Rural Mission District.

The Pellonis family found their church home here at Church of Christ Our Peace International – Sen Sok. They loved the worship and community. They also appreciated the liturgical character. The Pellonis saw the needs of people in Cambodia.

To date, the Anglican Church of Cambodia includes 11 congregations. There are also 17 preaching points in Phnom Penh and five rural provinces. They worship in Khmer, English, and Chinese.

Church of Christ Our Peace International – Sen Sok has a Khmer service at 8.30am. The English service is at 10am. The church welcomes requests to use its facilities for events or meetings. If you seek community or wish to worship in song join the Church of Christ Our Peace International – Sen Sok.
