In 1955, a seed of faith was planted. This seed blossomed into the Church of Christ Beltline. It was first known as Sowers Church of Christ. This was until the Sowers community became part of Irving in 1960. The Church of Christ Beltline has a rich history. It began with a dedicated group of 82 members. They laid the foundation for a community devoted to following the New Testament model of the first-century church. One unique aspect of the Church of Christ Beltline is its early embrace of diversity. It was the first integrated church in Irving, welcoming both black and white members. The church’s commitment to scriptural authority guides its worship and practices. This ensures every aspect of their faith is rooted in biblical teachings. Over the years, the Church of Christ Beltline has expanded physically and spiritually. The original building has undergone four additions since 1955. This accommodates its growing congregation. The church also purchased a minister’s home across the street. It was later converted into a classroom, annex, and fellowship center. The Church of Christ Beltline also actively supports aspiring preachers. They have assisted numerous young men at the Preston Road and Brown Trail Schools of Preaching. Some of these supported preachers originated from the Church of Christ Beltline’s own congregation. The Church of Christ Beltline stands as a testament to the enduring power of faith and community. It is a place where the past and present intertwine. The church continues its mission of spreading the Gospel and nurturing spiritual growth.
