Old buildings find new life as modern condos and offices. This trendy area is one of Copenhagen’s most sought-after locations.

Founded in 1909, Christianshavns Gymnasium initially started as Sundby hu00f8jere Almenskole. Back then it was located in Sundbyerne on Amager. In 1919, Copenhagen Municipality took over the school’s operation. It was then renamed Fu00e6llesskolen i Sundbyerne. The school gained the right to hold student exams in 1923. This led to another name change to Sundby Gymnasium.

In 1924, Christianshavns Gymnasium moved to its current location. It is situated in Bu00e5dsmandsstru00e6de/Prinsessegade. This is northeast of the Church of Our Saviour. That’s when the school adopted its present name. Frederik Bu00f8gh, a well-known educator, served as the school’s principal from 1924 to 1948.

Today, Christianshavns Gymnasium is home to approximately 800 students. It also has 100 dedicated teachers and staff members. Together, they foster a special learning environment. The school may appear small but it offers ample space for growth.

Christianshavns Gymnasium is known for its ambitious vision. It focuses on academic proficiency, democracy, and internationalization. While students face high expectations, they also learn to treat each other with respect. This creates the unique school spirit that defines “CG.”

Students at Christianshavns Gymnasium are very active. They participate in numerous clubs and committees. These include the student council, academic competitions, and the school musical. Extracurricular activities abound. There is a school choir, art programs, sports, and humanitarian projects. The school supports these activities.
