Yong’En Church held its dedication ceremony in October 2024. About 300 people attended. Leaders from the government and Christian organizations were present. Pastoral staff and congregants from across the city joined too.
The foundation of Yong’En Church was laid in January 2017. Construction finished in October 2018. Trial operations began in July 2024. The church officially opened on October 25 2024.
The church covers 2027 square meters. The total construction area is 2675 square meters. The main chapel can seat 600 people. An auxiliary hall accommodates 200.
Abalos+Sentkiewicz AS+ designed Yong’En Church. The structure resembles a white pebble. From other angles it looks like an ark setting sail.
In 2018 Yong’En Church was ready for use. It became a new community culture venue. The church project was a public Christian community. Shanghai New Bund International Business District Investment and Shanghai Three-Self Patriotic Movement Committee co-produced it.
The church connects with two buildings. The southern building is a four-story office building. The northern building is a two-story church. Greenery roads and landscapes surround the buildings.
The main chapel has a capacity of 600 people. The total area is 2027 square meters. The building area is 2837 square meters. Construction took 425 calendar days.
The youngest church in Pudong District completed renovations in 2018. Its longitudinal design adapts to the site. This design is conditioned by nearby railway lines. The two-story northern building has a main chapel for 600 people. Exterior stairs lead to a roof garden. It overlooks a linear park and the Huangpu River. A four-story southern office building includes a bell tower. The construction cost around 25 million yuan.
Yong’En Church is exploring standardized management of Christianity in Pudong. It promotes the sinicization of Christianity. The church serves society. It cultivates church talent. Its vision is holding out the word of life.
