Fengtang Church. A beacon of faith on Changxing Island. Let’s unravel its story together. We stand before the Christian Fengtang Church, a relatively new addition to Shanghai’s spiritual landscape. It’s a testament to the enduring power of faith in a modernizing world. Fengtang Church, dedicated in September 2017, serves the Christian community of Changxing Island in Chongming District. Its construction, a three-year endeavor from 2014 to 2016, culminated in a Gothic-style edifice that has become a local landmark. The dedication service was a significant event, attended by over 500 Christians and the entire pastoral staff of Chongming District. Reverend Chen Meijin, director of the Chongming District CCC&TSPM, presided over the service. Elder Chen Zhimin, secretary general of the Shanghai CCC&TSPM, delivered a powerful sermon titled “Where the House of God Is.” The church boasts a capacity of 600, a fitting space for the growing congregation. Imagine the voices raised in prayer and song within these walls. The church occupies an area of 980 square meters on a 3-mu plot of land, providing ample space for worship and community gatherings. Fengtang Church stands as a symbol of hope and spiritual growth for the Christians of Changxing Island. It represents the continued flourishing of faith in Shanghai.
