Ever wondered where young Malaysian Christians gather for spiritual growth? Right here stands the Christian Convention Centre. It is a place with a rich history and a vibrant present. The Christian Convention Centre in Batu Ferringhi was established in 1963. Believers from Burmah Road Gospel Hall and sister assemblies founded it. They envisioned a space for recreation and spiritual edification.
Imagine the centre in its early days. The Penang Assemblies saw the need for a dedicated space. Here, believers could meet and strengthen their faith. The Christian Convention Centre became the venue for the annual Bible Camp. Young people from churches all over Malaysia attended.
Mr Tan Wah Kim of Burmah Road Gospel Hall played a key role. In 1961 he led the effort to acquire the land. This 30000 sq ft site was purchased for just 80 cents per square foot. His foresight made the Christian Convention Centre a reality.
Over the years countless souls have been touched within these walls. The Gospel has been preached and shared. Many have found a saving knowledge of the Lord. Many servants of God trace their call to serve from their days as campers.
Today the Christian Convention Centre continues to be a blessing. It is a popular venue for Bible teaching and youth camps. Christian groups from Singapore and the USA also visit. The centre is ideally located by the sea. It sits in the tourist belt area near major hotels. Souvenir shops and food stalls are just a short walk away. Teluk Bahang National Park is nearby. Entopia Butterfly Farm and Tropical Spice Garden are also close.
The Christian Convention Centre has seen several upgrades. It can currently accommodate up to 128 campers. There is a centralized hot water system. Six dorms and two rooms are air-conditioned. The main hall has air-conditioning units. This ensures meetings can continue comfortably. Standard audio facilities are available. A piano electronic keyboard and LCD projector enhance events.
The Christian Convention Centre continues to evolve. Plans are underway to renovate the site. The goal is to accommodate more family rooms and facilities. There is even a vision to use it as a chapel. This will serve as a witness centre in Batu Ferringhi. The management welcomes suggestions and donations. They strive to make the site a home away from home. Here people gather for fellowship and Bible teaching.
The Burmah Road Gospel Hall jointly manages the Christian Convention Centre. It is open for booking by Bible-believing Protestant groups. Prices are kept at a minimum. This ensures accessibility for all.
The Christian Convention Centre stands as a testament to faith. It is a place where countless lives have been transformed. As you stand here consider the impact this centre has had. Its story continues to unfold with each passing year.
