“To live by faith, to be known by love and to be a voice of hope.” These words form the Parish Mission Statement of Christ The King Catholic Church. Christ The King stands as a testament to faith, love, and hope in the heart of Auckland.

One visitor in 2006 noted the church’s unique architecture. He described Christ The King as a brick octagon. It has a ridged roof, resembling a gigantic lemon squeezer. Inside, the church is open and spacious. Mid-brown wooden panelling adorns the interior. Matching crucifixes, stations of the cross, altar, and wooden benches add to the ambiance.

The visitor found the service to be efficient. It lasted about an hour. He described the music as folky liturgical, with guitar accompaniment. The choir of Pacific Islanders delivered magnificent singing. The sermon, lasting eight minutes, focused on environmental responsibility.

The reviewer noted the mix of ethnic backgrounds. He felt the church provided a simple service for people of all backgrounds. It reaffirmed Christianity’s ability to transcend culture and ethnicity. While the reviewer didn’t experience a strong sense of community, he acknowledged its role. Christ The King serves as a focal point for various groups.

Christ The King is more than just a building. It’s a community. It is a beacon of faith. Remember its mission. Live by faith. Be known by love. And be a voice of hope.
