The story of Christ Church Brunswick begins in 1857. That year the nave was built. Architects Purchas and Swyer designed this initial phase. Peter Cunningham oversaw its construction. The campanile was added between 1870 and 1871 by the same architectural team. Martin and Peacock handled the construction. Finally Frederick Wyatt completed the apse in 1875. The church therefore took almost two decades to build.
