Founded in 1890 Chertsey Town FC has a rich history. Its early matches were played in the West Surrey League. A significant milestone arrived in 1897 when the team secured the Surrey Junior Cup. The club’s journey wasn’t without its pauses. The Great War and World War II caused interruptions. However the Curfews as they are nicknamed persevered.

After World War II Chertsey Town attained senior status joining the Surrey Senior League. In 1951 the club officially became Chertsey Town FC. This era marked a golden age. The team won the league championship in the 1959-60 season. This triumph was repeated twice more in the following three years. The League Cup was also won three times during this period.

The club’s ambition led them to turn professional in 1963. They joined the Metropolitan League. This proved financially challenging. A return to amateur status followed. The club played in various leagues. They experienced both highs and lows with promotions and relegations.
