“Tartres”. Does that word spark curiosity? The Chemin du Haut des Tartres is not just a path. It is a journey through time and transformation.
Welcome to the Chemin du Haut des Tartres. This area is undergoing a significant change. It is a blend of urban development and a commitment to preserving nature.
The Tartres area is a large district of 33 hectares. It features green spaces and agricultural zones. The development of this area is progressing rapidly. A large agro-urban park echoes the site’s market gardening identity. The first section of this grand park is now open to everyone.
Plaine Commune has been managing this sector since initial studies. They focus on the history and identity of the site. The goal is to enhance the environment and quality of life for residents. The Chemin du Haut des Tartres is at the heart of this vision.
Located north of Plaine Commune the Tartres is at the crossroads of Pierrefitte-sur-Seine Stains and Saint-Denis. This new mixed and sustainable district revolves around a vast park. It acknowledges the area’s history as a market garden.
The Tartres project plans to build over 2200 homes. This includes social and student housing. Eventually one of the largest green spaces in the inner suburbs of Paris will be created. New streets pedestrian paths and cycle lanes will cross this area.
These improvements will better connect the neighboring areas. They improve access to nearby transport hubs. These include metro line 13 at Saint-Denis Université station and Tram 11 Express.
Since the first residents arrived in 2016 housing and public space projects have advanced. Over 500 homes a gymnasium the Barbara school and two school groups have already been delivered. The project balances density with urban and landscape quality. The park and city blend together to create a feeling of space.
The Chemin du Haut des Tartres includes a focus on biodiversity. A key goal is to preserve the site’s agricultural identity. They also aim to develop a large green space. This space integrates market gardening and biodiversity preservation. Besides family gardens there are agricultural zones. A large park has been inaugurated. Today everyone can enjoy the first part of the Tartres’ “Green Heart”.
This initial section features many spaces. A large public green area offers relaxation and recreation. It includes a dense lawn area. A promenade planted with fruit trees also exists. The central area is more natural with shaded spots for summer. Nearby a 3600 m2 wood acts as a biodiversity reserve. Around 850 trees have been planted.
The site’s history as a market garden has not been forgotten. It includes an agricultural heart of revitalized land. This land is managed by Novaedia.
The Chemin du Haut des Tartres is more than just a path. It is a symbol of a changing landscape. It is where urban life and nature intertwine. The final project delivery is scheduled for 2029. Until then let us enjoy the beauty and potential of this unique area.
