Two centuries later, Alfred Sommier, a sugar magnate with a passion for art, rescued the château from neglect. He and his descendants embarked on an extensive restoration, returning the estate to its former glory. Today, as you stand before Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, you can still feel the echoes of Fouquet’s ambition and the artistry of Le Vau, Le Brun, and Le Nôtre.
