The story begins in the 1970s. Dr. Gene Getz challenged his students. He urged them to rethink the traditional church model. This led to the creation of the Fellowship Bible Church. Gene Getz’s work resulted in the landmark book Sharpening the Focus of the Church. This book argued for adaptability in church structure. This way churches could remain relevant in a changing world. The Fellowship Bible Church movement spread rapidly. It expanded throughout the US and beyond.
In 1981 a new chapter began. Gene founded Fellowship Bible Church North. This later became Chase Oaks Church. Jeff Jones succeeded Gene as Senior Pastor. Bruce Miller launched Christ Fellowship in McKinney. These actions showed a commitment to leadership development and expansion.
The church later underwent a “replanting”. This involved seeking a fresh vision and a more visible location. They also sought to reach a new generation. The name changed to Chase Oaks Church.
