Can you imagine yourself swimming in a lido heated to 25°C all year? Right in front of you is Charlton Lido and Lifestyle Club. Opened in 1939, this outdoor pool was the last municipal lido built in London. While it closed during World War II, it reopened in 1946 and continued to welcome local swimmers for decades. Due to declining revenue and rising costs, the lido closed to the public in 1989, and it spent several years in disrepair, but it was eventually refurbished in 2013, making it a sparkling facility in an otherwise unremarkable part of London. The Charlton Lido and Lifestyle Club has a 50-meter long pool, a smaller children’s pool, and cascaded fountains.
The club even has a gym, a spin studio, a cafe, and a rooftop terrace. Here you can enjoy a hot or cold drink and snacks. The club also has tennis courts nearby, if you’re looking for a break from the water. So, step right up and you’ll find that this is a place that has something to offer everyone — from those who enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool to those who prefer to stay active with a workout in the gym. Just outside the club, you can easily catch buses 89, 178, 422, 380, or 53 to reach this vibrant destination. The DLR from Bank to Woolwich Arsenal, or trains from London Bridge combined with a quick bus ride will get you to Charlton Lido and Lifestyle Club in under an hour. Enjoy the club and don’t forget to soak up the London sun.
