Just one month after acquiring the land the first race took place. 10000 spectators came to Charlottenlund Travbane. They came by train dressed in their finest clothes.

The architect Gotfred Tvede designed the original buildings. His work included the iconic Ordrupgård. His buildings were state of the art for their time.

The Dansk Trav Derby is the track’s most prestigious event. It takes place annually on the last weekend of August. Only four-year-old horses can compete. Each horse has one chance to win. The race covers 3000 meters. It spans three laps around the 950-meter track. The Dansk Trav Derby is the most important harness race to win in Denmark.

Charlottenlund Travbane also hosts regular race days. These include both harness and Monté races. Visitors can bet on the horses. They can enjoy a meal with a view of the entire track.
