This vast construction site, a hive of activity, offers a glimpse into the future of Paris’s public transport. The Chantier Grand Paris Express Ligne 15 Sud Gare Vitry Centre is part of a larger project, the Ligne 15 Sud, a 33km stretch of metro line scheduled to open in late 2025. This ambitious project will connect 16 stations, running from Pont de Sèvres to Noisy-Champs, and will significantly impact the daily commute of over a million people. This particular station, previously known as Vitry-Centre, has been renamed Mairie-de-Vitry in collaboration with Île-de-France Mobilités. The change reflects a broader effort to integrate the new line seamlessly into the existing urban fabric. What makes the Chantier Grand Paris Express Ligne 15 Sud Gare Vitry Centre particularly fascinating is its advanced stage of construction. Unlike other sections of the Grand Paris Express, the tunnels for this segment are complete. The tunnel boring machines have finished their subterranean journey, paving the way for tracks and eventually, trains.
