Chadwell Heath Academy is a co-educational school. It operates independently of the local authority. The academy has grown significantly. It now educates around 1200 pupils. This includes 300 students in the sixth form.

Let’s talk about academic achievements at Chadwell Heath Academy. In 2007, the school’s GCSE results ranked third in the borough. An impressive 96.8% of students achieved 5 A* to C grades. Only two grammar schools surpassed this.

The success continued. In 2008, 96% of pupils secured 5 or more A* to C grades at GCSE. A remarkable 61% of these were A*, A, and B grades. AS-Level students achieved a 90% pass rate. A2-Level students reached 99%.

Chadwell Heath Academy maintained its high standards in 2009. 97% of pupils achieved at least 5 A* to C grades at GCSE. Over half the grades were A*, A, or B. A significant 30% of pupils achieved 1 to 9 A* grades. 57% achieved 1 to 9 A* and A grades. 81% of pupils gained two or more Science certificates at grades A* to C. AS Level grades saw 58% at A, B, and C. A-Level students once again achieved a 99% pass rate.

However, Chadwell Heath Academy faced a setback in 2022. Ofsted judged the school as “Requires Improvement.”

Many students progress to Chadwell Heath Academy from local primary schools. These include Chadwell Primary School. Others come from Barley Lane Primary School and Grove Primary School. St. Bede’s Catholic School and Goodmayes Primary School also feed into the academy.

Former pupils of the school are known as Old Chadwellites.

Several notable figures have passed through Chadwell Heath Academy. Kris Chesney is a Saracens and International Rugby player. He opened the school’s new sports hall and sixth form centre in 2007.

Other alumni include Liverpool and England striker Rhian Brewster. Actor and comedian Mawaan Rizwan also attended. Reading and England defender Nicky Shorey is another notable name. The actress Michelle Dockery is an alumni. Musician Devonte Hynes is a former student. Fashion photographer Ben Rayner studied here. Surgeon and inventor Shafi Ahmed is also an Old Chadwellite. Judge and Recorder Khatun Sapnara attended the school. The actor Micheal Ward is also an alumni.
