Could a rabbi in 1984 have foreseen the growth of Chabad in Austin? Here at the Chabad House, you see more than just a building. It represents a legacy that began with Rabbi Yosef and Rochel Levertov. They arrived in Austin with a vision: to create a thriving Jewish community. Their first endeavor was Chabad on Campus at the University of Texas. From these humble beginnings, Chabad House blossomed. Today, it stands as a testament to their dedication, alongside a network of six independent branches across Austin. Each branch, a beacon of Jewish life, embodies the Levertovs’ initial dream. Their legacy lives on, woven into the fabric of Austin’s Jewish community.
