From the heart of UNAM emerges the Centro de Ciencias de la Complejidad C3. It’s not just a building, but a vibrant hub where science transcends boundaries. The Centro de Ciencias de la Complejidad C3 opened its doors in 2015, leaving behind its former home on the sixth floor of the Engineering Tower. This modern facility, nestled within the Centro Cultural Universitario, faces Universum, the Museum of Sciences. Its location is unique, situated near the Reserva Ecológica del Pedregal de San Ángel (REPSA). The C3 boasts xeriscaped gardens featuring native REPSA species. These gardens not only enhance the area’s beauty but also mitigate the impact of the building’s construction on the surrounding ecological reserve. They allow for the continued passage of animals and the preservation of local flora and fauna. Inside the Centro de Ciencias de la Complejidad C3, researchers tackle complex issues through an interdisciplinary approach. Seven research programs address challenges ranging from public health and cellular biology to social complexity and neuroscience. They delve into diseases like Chagas and influenza, explore the complexities of diabetes and cancer, and analyze socio-environmental conflicts.
