“Purchased an old Jewish Synagogue.” This is how the story of Central Assembly of God Church began. This purchase happened in 1955. The small group of people started services on the second Sunday in May. They named their church “Central Assembly of God” because of its location.

Rev. Donald Bogue became the first pastor. He served from 1955 to 1957. Then, Rev. Charles Kingsfield took over in 1957. He remained until 1959. The church officially affiliated with the Assemblies of God in 1958. At that time, it had 48 members.

Rev. Billy Bell was elected pastor in 1958. During his time, Central Assembly of God Church relocated. The new location was at 3030 F Avenue NW. Rev. Bell resigned in 1966.

In April 1966, Rev. Ramon Booth became the pastor. He pastored Central Assembly of God for 31 years. His last Sunday was in April 1997. The church had a successful bus ministry during his time. Rev. Booth also mentored many youth and associate pastors.

Rev. Mark Thomas was elected pastor in April 1997. He is currently serving in this role. Under his leadership, construction began on Booth Fellowship Hall in 2003. It was completed in 2005. Rev. Thomas continues to lead Central Assembly in spiritual growth.

Kid Central is a special place for children. Kids from birth through 5th grade can learn about Jesus. This learning happens in a safe and age-appropriate environment. Kid Central Check-In begins 20 minutes before each service. The kids enjoy a two-story indoor slide. There is also a Parent Room. This room is for nursing mothers or parents with active little ones at Central Assembly of God Church.

Central Youth meets every Sunday night at 6 PM. This is for students in 6th to 12th grade. They gather for worship and teaching. Summer camp and small groups are also available. Central Youth retreats and discipleship opportunities help students learn about Jesus. They can also connect with friends and mentors at Central Assembly of God Church.

Jerry and Tracy Hildebrand are the Lead Pastors since June 2023. Abi and Zane Schmeeckle are the Worship and Media Directors since May 2022. Devon and Anna Tiemann are the NEXT GEN Youth and Kids Pastors since September 2023. Central Assembly of God Church is a community. It is a place where people connect, grow and serve.
