“Dykker” isn’t a word you hear every day, is it? Here at the Center for Dykning, it’s the heart of everything. Center for Dykning translates to “Diving Center,” and that’s precisely what this place is: the core of diver training for the Danish Navy. Formerly known as Søværnets Dykkerskole and Søværnets Dykkerkursus, the Center for Dykning now stands as a key training facility under Søværnets Skole (the Naval School). Located right here at Marinestation København, it shares its home with other important institutions like the Naval Officer School and the Center for Teknik. The Center for Dykning plays a crucial role in preparing divers for a range of demanding tasks. They train commercial divers who serve as ship and mine divers within the navy. They also train commercial divers for other organizations, including the Copenhagen Fire Department’s pioneer service. Imagine the skill and precision required to navigate underwater, securing ships and detecting mines. These divers are true professionals, and their training begins right here at the Center for Dykning.
