In 1977, a visionary entrepreneur named Custódio Rangel Pires laid the foundation for what would become a beacon of faith: the CEI – Centro Evangelístico Internacional. Born in Sumidouro, Rio de Janeiro, Custódio’s life was interwoven with the gospel. He wasn’t just a businessman; he was a fervent believer, baptized at the young age of 15. This passion propelled him to leadership roles, including the international presidency of Adhonep (Association of Businessmen of the Full Gospel) and executive director of CPAD. Custódio, affectionately known as “Brother Custódio,” felt a powerful call to evangelism. He founded the CEI – Centro Evangelístico Internacional in Icaraí, Niterói. Initially, it was a congregation of the Assembly of God in Niterói. The CEI – Centro Evangelístico Internacional quickly flourished under his leadership. He became its pastor-president after its emancipation. The growth didn’t stop there. In 1987, the first branch of the CEI – Centro Evangelístico Internacional opened in São Gonçalo, marking the beginning of its expansion throughout Brazil and internationally. Custódio’s legacy continued to inspire even after his passing in 2012. The CEI – Centro Evangelístico Internacional remains committed to spreading the gospel, a testament to the vision of its founder.
