In 1924, a group of newcomers from East Texas brought the Church of Christ to the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas. They established the Cedar Crest Church of Christ. Initially, they gathered for worship in the home of Dovie Bagsby. As their numbers grew, they sought larger spaces, first on Corinth Street, then twice more in 1927 and 1928, on Spark Street (later renamed Mitchell Street). Finally, they found their permanent home here on Cedar Crest Boulevard. Today, Cedar Crest Church of Christ stands as a testament to the enduring faith and community spirit of Oak Cliff. With a congregation of over 450 members, it continues to be a beacon of hope and inspiration in the neighborhood.
