Did you know that our very own CB Hounslow United FC is a product of another club’s dissolution? It was formed in 1989 after Richmond Rangers disbanded. CB United, as it was originally known, got its name from Cater Bank, the company owned by the father of the club chairman. Cater Bank also served as the club’s initial sponsor. They started out playing in the Hounslow & District League. In 1997, they joined the Senior Division of the Middlesex County League. They moved up to the Premier Division in 1999. After a string of strong performances, finishing second in 2004-05 and 2005-06, they were promoted to Division One of the Combined Counties League. CB Hounslow United FC went on to win Division One in 2015-16 earning them another promotion, this time to the Premier Division. This was short-lived, though. In 2021-22 they finished at the bottom of their division and were relegated back to Division One. With another bottom-place finish the following season, they were relegated again, this time to the Surrey Premier League. During a merger with Hillingdon Abbots in 2024, the club picked up its current name, CB Hounslow & Abbots. This exciting change brought them to their current home: Green Lane. Their new ground, completed in 2017, replaced five unused football pitches. Construction cost £1.5 million – quite a price tag, but the result is impressive. It boasts a seated stand on one side, covered seating behind one goal, and a clubhouse. The club has some impressive achievements, including winning the Combined Counties League Division One championship in 2015-16 and reaching the first round of the FA Vase in 2018-19 and 2020-21. The first game at Green Lane took place in 2017 and saw the home team win 2-1. If you’ve never seen CB Hounslow & Abbots in action, it’s worth checking them out. They are a truly local team with a great spirit and a fun atmosphere.
