A majestic structure rises before you. This is the Catedral de San Isidro. Its imposing neo-Gothic style speaks of history and faith.

The Catedral de San Isidro stands tall. It wasn’t always this grand cathedral. It began as a small chapel. Captain Domingo de Acassuso founded it in 1706. He had a dream. In his dream San Isidro Labrador asked him to build a chapel. This small chapel marked the beginning of San Isidro town.

French architects Dunant and Paquin designed the current cathedral. Its construction was completed on July 14 1898. The cathedral’s height is 68 meters. Its base is a Latin cross. The walls are made of stone and brick. Beautiful stained-glass windows adorn the building. The cathedral underwent a major restoration. This restoration project was completed in 2007. It brought back the cathedral’s original splendor.

Every year on May 15th a special festival is held. The festival is in honor of Isidore the Labourer. The Catedral de San Isidro is much more than just a church. It is a symbol of the town’s history and faith.

Near the cathedral lies Plaza de San Isidro. A popular artisan fair takes place there. The fair has been running since 1971. It features over 100 stands. People sell handcrafted leather wood textile metal and ceramic products. This artisan fair is the oldest in Buenos Aires Province.

Just a short distance away is the San Isidro train station. It’s part of the Tren de la Costa rail system. The station includes shops a cinema and restaurants. The Catedral de San Isidro is a true landmark. It stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of San Isidro. It is a place of worship and a vibrant part of the community.
