How high above the city can a tower stand? Here at the foot of Castelinho, you’d be forgiven for asking that very question. Castelinho isn’t your typical castle. It’s more of a miniature fortress, a playful nod to grander structures. But don’t let its diminutive size fool you. Castelinho has a story to tell, one that intertwines with the history of Lisbon itself. Standing on the grounds of Quinta do Mendes, Castelinho was once known as Mirante da Quinta do Mendes. Today it serves a more adventurous purpose. It’s a challenge for those with a head for heights, a climbing tower testing skill and nerve.
