The Casa de Encuentro y Oraciόn San Juan Evangelista isn’t just bricks and mortar. It’s a testament to the power of shared belief and community. This house of worship, nestled in Tristán Suárez, Buenos Aires, first opened its doors in 2015. It belongs to the Movimiento de la Palabra de Dios (MPD). The MPD held a special blessing ceremony on October 12, 2014, led by Bishop Jorge Lugones. Even before its official opening, the Casa de Encuentro y Oraciόn San Juan Evangelista was already weaving its story. The construction itself is a tale of collective effort. The MPD members contributed monthly through the Ofrenda de Comuniόn y Rescate collection. Each contribution, no matter how small, played a crucial role. The iron rods hidden within the sturdy structure came from the Litoral region. The concrete that binds it all came from Capital. The roof, shielding those within, was a gift from the Oeste zone. The bricks, forming the protective walls, came from the Sur. Even the floor tiles and aluminum windows, connecting the interior with the outside world, were contributions from Córdoba and Cuyo. The sand, an almost invisible yet essential component, came from the rest of Buenos Aires and southern Argentina. The pipes and wires, the veins of the building, were provided by the Nazareth communities. Imagine the spirit of unity that brought all these elements together. The Casa de Encuentro y Oraciόn San Juan Evangelista is more than just a building. It’s a living embodiment of the MPD’s shared vision. This spirit continues to thrive. In September 2021, the house hosted a retreat for young people from Quilmes Oeste. Father Ricardo, the founder of the MPD, was there. He encouraged them not just in faith, but also in practical matters like vaccination. He urged them to be “fishers of men,” echoing the call to spread the word of God. The Casa de Encuentro y Oraciόn San Juan Evangelista stands as a beacon of faith and community, a testament to what can be achieved when people unite in a common purpose.
