Did you know Carroll Senior High School’s history stretches back to 1919? It began as Carroll School also known as Carroll Hill School. This humble school served students in grades 1-9. Imagine the small classrooms and simpler times. The school wasn’t always a senior high school though.

Carroll Senior High School became part of the Carroll Independent School District in 1959. It wasn’t until 1970 that the original Carroll High School opened its doors. Growth led to changes. In 1992 a new campus was built serving grades 9-12. By 2002 a split campus system was in place. Carroll Junior High School became Carroll High School for freshmen and sophomores. The existing high school became Carroll Senior High School for juniors and seniors.

Carroll Senior High School is more than just a school. It’s a powerhouse in athletics. The Carroll Dragons boast 62 state athletic titles. They’ve also been state runner-up 16 times. Nine Lone Star Cups stand as testament to their athletic excellence. Think of the dedication and teamwork required for such remarkable achievements.

The school’s baseball team shines brightly. They’ve won state championships in 1982 2002 2018 2019 and 2022. Their football team has a legacy of success. They’ve achieved national championships in 2004 2005 and 2006. This success continues with numerous state championships and several state runner-up finishes. The football program has been one of Texas’s premier high school programs since 1987.

Success isn’t limited to the gridiron. Carroll Senior High School’s cross country teams have a rich history of victories. The girls’ team has eight state titles since 2000. The boys’ team has an impressive eleven state titles. Both teams hold state records for low scores at the state meet. Consider the dedication and hard work that makes this possible.

Carroll Senior High School also excels in other areas. Seven individual tennis state champions have come from this school. One student Justin Hunter even won a national championship in 1998. The swim teams have had remarkable success winning numerous state championships. Both boys and girls teams have “swept” the Texas State Meet on four occasions. Their debate team has won 18 state championships across various categories.

The school’s impact extends far beyond academics and sports. The Emerald Belles drill team is another source of pride. The Belles are a nationally recognized team celebrating their 60th anniversary. This tradition demonstrates the dedication to excellence found in the school’s culture.
