“Transforming containment zones into opportunity zones.” These are the words that define Care Church. Care Church began its journey in 1986. This was during the crack epidemic in Lower East Dallas. The area was riddled with urban blight and poverty. It wasn’t a promising start.
But through faith and hard work, Care Church witnessed remarkable change. Over two decades, countless families were transformed. They were stabilized through the gospel and discipleship. East Dallas improved significantly because of Care Church.
In 2006, Care Church relocated to Pleasant Grove. This area was in dire need of healing and support. Pleasant Grove’s poverty and crime rates were among the highest in the D/FW Metroplex. Schools were chaotic and gang-ridden. Drugs were rampant. Gunfire and sirens were common sounds.
Despite the challenges, few charitable organizations were present. Care Church stepped in to fill this void. It sought to renew Pleasant Grove from within. The Care Church team held great hope for the area.
