Capitol City Baptist Church is located on West Avenue. It is known as CCBC. The church has been serving the community since 1959. It is affiliated with the Conservative Baptist Association of the Philippines.
Rev Arthur R Beals served as pastor. He led from 1962 to 1965. In 1986, a Deaf Ministry was established. Pastor Cesar C Castro, Rina Dimaculangan, and Rev Reynaldo I Atienza founded it. That same year, CCBC Caloocan was founded. Also, the Golden Ladies Fellowship began.
Dr Reynaldo R Avante later became Senior Pastor. In 2009, Capitol City Baptist Church celebrated its 50th anniversary. The celebration was held at the Ateneo de Manila University. Pastors, missionaries, and workers received commemorative plaques. These plaques recognized their contributions to the church. The theme song “Ipahayag” was performed.
From August to October 2009, sermons covered the Beatitudes from Matthew. November 2009 marked the 10th anniversary of Youth@111. December saw elections for new board members. They would serve in 2011 and 2012. Capitol City Baptist Church also celebrated Christmas. They held five consecutive evening worship services like the Catholic’s “simbang gabi.” The 24/7 Missions Prayer Chain began.
In 2011, the children’s ministry started a Sunday school class. This class ran during the evening service. Youth@111 collaborated with Nur Factory. Together, they organized a peace camp in Rizal. The aim was to promote understanding between Muslim and Christian children. Marcelo Abelado was commissioned as associate pastor that year.
During the 50th-anniversary celebration, expansion plans were revealed. A new building was planned for the indoor parking lot. Discussions resumed in 2011 after a break. Sermons in the fourth quarter of 2011 covered the Book of Nehemiah. The expansion was estimated to cost ₱70 million.
By 2012, the estimated cost was reduced to ₱25 million. Fundraising efforts were initiated. Capitol City Baptist Church is a member of the Conservative Baptist Association. Dr Reynaldo Avante was elected president of CBAP in 2011. His term lasted two years.
Capitol City Baptist Church has partnered with Evangelism Explosion since the early 1990s. The church believes in the Bible. It considers it the ultimate source for teachings. They believe in the Trinity. They believe Jesus died for humanity’s sins. Those who have faith in Jesus are saved. Capitol City Baptist Church emphasizes evangelism. Their mission statement reflects this. It states: “In the heart of the nation, with the nations at heart.” Their purpose is strategic engagement in nations. This is achieved through Christ-centered community transformation. It involves birthing and building up churches called SEND CCBC.
Capitol City Baptist Church continues to serve. It builds individuals and families. It connects them to God’s love. It demonstrates power through Jesus Christ. The church reaches out to over 1,500 children and youth. It ministers to about a thousand adults regularly. These ministries extend from Quezon City to other provinces. They even reach cities like Hong Kong and Bangkok. Capitol City Baptist Church truly embodies its mission. It is a community with the nations at heart.
