Barely a century ago, Roma Norte was farmland. It had no Parish Church. In 1906, Don Pedro Lascurain and his family conceived the idea of building the temple. They got the idea off the ground with donated land.
Construction began in 1910. The Jesuits sponsored it and have been the church’s custodians ever since. Construction halted from 1913 to 1917 during the Revolution. Architect Manuel Gorozpe finally completed the project in 1925.
Inside the Sacred Family Church, you can admire the multi-colored stained glass windows. They feature organic designs. Some illustrate bible passages and the mysteries of the Christian faith. An Italian company called Talleri made them in Mexico.

Pedro Lascuraín and his family had the initiative to create the parish. They dedicated it to the Sagrada Familia. In 1906, Pedro Lascuraín communicated the project to the board of directors of the Chapultepec land company. He argued that it was convenient for the rise of the colony to have its own temple.
Don Pedro Lascuraín and Don Edward Orrin donated the land. The Jesuits sponsored the construction, which began in 1910. The laying of the first stone took place on January 6, 1910. Revolutionary struggle interrupted the project from 1913 to 1917. Finally, in 1925, construction concluded. The blessing of the tower and its clock took place on November 19 of the same year.
The temple reflects a harmonious union of various styles like Neo-Romanesque, Neo-Gothic, and eclectic. The facade displays a Neo-Romanesque style. The staggered arches stand out. A Neo-Gothic rosette is at the center. It is surrounded by palms and seven circles that unite them. The main portal has three semicircular arches in decreasing sequence. Corinthian columns support them. A four-sided tower stands above. It has a double arch, a clock on each side, and four smaller towers in each corner.
The parish’s polychrome stained glass windows are the highlight. They showcase organic designs of plant elements and flowers. They also depict passages from the Bible and mysteries of the Christian faith. The temple has 25 stained glass windows. Twelve are along the nave. Eight are in the dome’s drum. Four are at the side entrances and one in the rosette. There are also 12 smaller stained glass windows on the 3 interior doors. The Italian company Talleri made the stained glass in Mexico.
