Alicia, the heart and soul of Casa Cañadas, stumbled upon this dilapidated mansion in the San Roque neighborhood. The area was riddled with poverty and neglect. Yet, Alicia saw potential, a divine purpose in the crumbling walls. Driven by an unknown force, she purchased the house with her friends. They began the arduous task of renovation, transforming the decaying structure into a beacon of hope. During the remodel, local children, drawn by curiosity, would gather around. They watched the transformation unfold, slowly building relationships with the volunteers. One day, a simple request changed everything. The children asked to sit in front of the newly renovated house to do their homework. In that instant, Alicia’s vision crystallized. Casa Cañadas would become a sanctuary for these children, a safe haven in their troubled neighborhood. Now, Casa Cañadas is a thriving non-profit. It offers classes, homework help, games, and most importantly, mentorship and unwavering support to the children of San Roque.
