“Fancy a lovely stroll?” That’s what I imagine the locals saying as they head to Camphill Park. It is a simple yet charming spot in Tullamarine.
Camphill Park offers a delightful escape. Its unassuming nature holds a certain appeal for those seeking a quiet retreat.
The playground at Camphill Park features a basic structure. It includes a wave slide, fireman’s pole, and inclined walkway. Monkey bars add to the fun. A see-saw and skateboard springer provide more entertainment. Swings complete the play area. An unshaded seat offers a place to rest. There is also some grassy area.
But there is more to Camphill Park than just a playground. Imagine taking a leisurely 2.9km walk around Camp Hill. Start at the inviting picnic area. Proceed along the easy track. It leads to picturesque views of Beaufort from above.
Begin your walk on King Street toward Raglan. Start at the base of Camp Hill Road. Keep the BBQ and picnic area to your left. As you ascend, you’ll reach a fork. One path leads to the lookout point. Take a quick detour to the lookout and capture the view. Return to Camp Hill Road and head northeast. Follow the track until you reach the junction of Oyster Track Rd.
Turn left at the Oyster Track road sign. Stay on the track. Continue to another fork in the road. This time, take the right path. Veer right from this point forward. Continue until you rejoin Camp Hill Road. This road will lead you back to the picnic area. The wide track is perfect for horses and bikes.
As you explore Camphill Park, keep an eye out for the local wildlife. Quiet observation might reward you with a sighting.
While you’re at the lookout, note the beauty of Beaufort from above. During winter, the golden wattles along Oyster Track create a spectacle.
Despite being a decent walk, some find the route confusing. Especially around point 3 where there is a loop. Perhaps this point is where a half-oval track is on the left of the gravel road.
