Over 150 years of faith resonates within these walls. Welcome to Calvary First Baptist Church in Dallas. While its history is deeply intertwined with that of First Baptist Dallas, this church stands as a unique testament to faith.

First Baptist Church Dallas was established July 30 1868. Eleven founding members gathered in the Masonic Hall. It was on Lamar Street near Ross Avenue.

In 1872 the congregation bought their first building. It was located on Akard in downtown Dallas. The cornerstone of today’s sanctuary was laid in 1891.

First Baptist Church Dallas founded many ministries. These include First Baptist Academy and Criswell College. KCBI Christian radio station and Dallas Life also have roots here.

The church expanded its facilities in 2013. A 3000-seat Worship Center was built. The cost was 130 million dollars. Older facilities were renovated as well.

The story of First Baptist Church Dallas involves influential pastors. George Washington Truett served from 1897 until his death in 1944. Dr. W.A. Criswell followed in 1944. He led the church to become the largest Southern Baptist church. Robert Jeffress has been the pastor since 2007.

First Baptist Dallas has influenced American culture. The church welcomed five American presidents. Billy Graham was a member for over 50 years. Dr. Jeffress gave the inaugural sermon for President Trump in 2017.
