“Did you ever hear of shoes made from goatskin?” I asked, watching the waves caress the sands of Caleta del Rio. This beach, on Fuerteventura, whispers tales of the island’s earliest inhabitants, the Mahos. They crafted these unique shoes, a tradition echoing from North Africa, their ancestral home.
