Buntentor gets its name from the Bunte Tor. Bunte Tor translates to the Bunte Gate. This gate was once a key access point to the city.

Imagine Bremen in the 17th century. The Neustadt was a planned expansion. It needed fortifications and that’s where the Bunte Tor came in.
