Ready to explore a road with a story? Today we will explore the Bundesstraße 207. This road, or at least a section of it, has seen recent improvements in Lübeck.
The Bundesstraße 207 in Lübeck underwent some serious work recently. Crews worked hard to renew the road surface. This happened on Berliner Allee, specifically. The work zone stretched between Kronsforder Allee and Paul-Ehrlich-Straße.
Here’s a fun fact. The first phase wrapped up eight days ahead of schedule. Yes, the B 207 in that section reopened on August 15th.
But wait, there’s more to the Bundesstraße 207’s story. Right after that, the focus shifted. Work began at the A 20 interchange at Lübeck-Süd. This phase lasted from August 16th to the 24th.
To ensure safety, a full closure was necessary. Only police and emergency services could pass. Bus schedules also saw changes. These roadworks cost around one million euros. The German government footed the bill.
After that, crews returned to the section between Kronsforder Allee and Paul-Ehrlich-Straße. From August 26th to 29th, they fixed uneven spots on the road.
During the second phase, accessing the A 20 from the B 207 was impossible at the Lübeck-Süd interchange. A detour led drivers via Blankensee. They traveled along the K 8, L 331, and K 37.
The Landesbetrieb Straßenbau und Verkehr Schleswig-Holstein coordinated everything. They asked drivers to be considerate. This was to protect the workers.
This isn’t the first time parts of the B 207 have been upgraded. Back in 2022, the section between the Hochschulstadtteil and the Autobahn was renovated.
The Bundesstraße 207 stretches beyond Lübeck. It starts at the Puttgarden ferry terminal. Then it runs through Lübeck. Finally, it ends in Hamburg. However, there is a break. Between Heiligenhafen and Lübeck, the A1 motorway takes over. The section from Puttgarden to Heiligenhafen is also part of European route E47. In total, the Bundesstraße 207 covers about 102 km. The Bundesstraße 207 is important for both local and European traffic.
