“This place has such a strange name, don’t you think?” Bulls Cross. It might sound like a name from a fantasy novel, but it’s actually rooted in history. The name Bulls Cross comes from “Bedelscrosse,” as it was known in 1465. By 1540, it was called “Bullyscrosse,” meaning “crossroads associated with the family called Bolle or Bull.” These families were prominent in the area as far back as the 13th century. Today, Bulls Cross is a quiet hamlet on the outskirts of London, part of Enfield and nestled within the Metropolitan Green Belt. Despite its peaceful atmosphere now, Bulls Cross has a fascinating past. One of its claims to fame is a more modern one. In 2009, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club decided to build its new training centre right here. It opened in 2012 and is a hive of activity for the Premier League team. However, sports fans, take note, access is strictly for players and staff.
