Beneath Bukit Batok’s skyline stands a testament to faith. This is Bukit Batok Presbyterian Church. Its story began as a project of Orchard Road Presbyterian Church in the late 1980s. The mother church needed more space. By the early 1990s, Orchard Road Presbyterian Church had four congregations.

In 1992, the Housing Development Board awarded the church a 30-year lease for this site. Planning permission followed in 1993. Within two years, construction was complete. Bukit Batok Presbyterian Church held its first English service on July 2, 1995. Mandarin and Indonesian congregations soon followed.

For years, Bukit Batok Presbyterian Church operated as a branch of Orchard Road Presbyterian Church. However, the church considered independence. In June 2007, Bukit Batok Presbyterian Church discussed becoming independent. A committee formed to explore the proposal. Momentum grew by 2011. The English and Indonesian congregations formed a pro-tem committee. They sought Orchard Road Presbyterian Church’s final approval.

By God’s grace, Bukit Batok Presbyterian Church registered as a society on December 28, 2012. It gained charity status on March 28, 2013. On July 1, 2013, operational oversight transferred from Orchard Road Presbyterian Church to Bukit Batok Presbyterian Church leadership. Bukit Batok Presbyterian Church held its inaugural service as an independent church on July 21, 2013. Today, Bukit Batok Presbyterian Church stands as an independent member. It belongs to the Presbyterian Church of Singapore Synod.

Bukit Batok Presbyterian Church has a vision. The church prepares for growth. Its mission involves nurturing a Christ-centered family. This family makes fruitful disciples within the church and beyond. The church aims to develop a loving and caring family. It seeks to develop disciple-making disciples. They encourage worshippers in personal community and missions outreach.

The Indonesian congregation is known as GPBB. GPBB stands for Gereja Presbyterian Bukit Batok. The congregation reflects diverse backgrounds. They are united in Christ. GPBB also has small groups. These groups foster fellowship. They encourage the study of God’s word.

The Christian Education Ministry supports the church’s vision. Its focus is on loving God loving others and loving the lost. The ministry educates members in the Word of God.
