Tower 12. That name alone evokes images of a sleek modern skyscraper doesn’t it? But its story goes deeper than glass and steel. This wasn’t always a residential high-rise. Before Tower 12 rose 392 feet into the Seattle sky this site held other dreams. In the early 1990s a massive condominium project called One Pacific Towers was planned. Two 27-story buildings were envisioned. 145 units in each tower. This project was abandoned however. Later another proposal emerged a 39-story condominium. That too failed to materialize.

The land sat waiting. Then in 2014 Continental Properties purchased the property. They had a vision. Instead of condos they opted for apartments. This decision proved shrewd. Apartments offered higher value and lower risk. And so the plan for Tower 12 took shape. It would be a tribute to the Seattle Seahawks’ “12th man” their dedicated fans.

Construction began on March 27 2015. The building topped out in August 2016. Finally Tower 12 opened its doors in May 2017. It is a 34-story building housing 314 apartments. There is 7000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. The project cost a staggering $75 million. It was later acquired by Weidner Apartment Homes for an even more impressive $225 million.

Tower 12 stands as a testament to Seattle’s dynamic spirit. It showcases how a site’s potential can be unlocked through vision and careful planning. The building itself is more than just housing. It is a symbol of Seattle’s ever-evolving urban landscape. Its gleaming facade reflects the city’s vibrant energy. Its name a constant reminder of the passionate fan base that defines the city’s sports scene. This is more than just an apartment building. It’s a piece of Seattle history in the making.
