Sturdy steps lead up from Kőszikla utca. Welcome to Budaörsi kopárok TT. This is a special nature reserve near Budapest. It offers amazing hilltop views.

Budaörsi kopárok TT includes several hills. These hills form a chain. You have to hike up and down these hills during your visit. Layered clothing is recommended.

If the day is clear, you’ll see interesting sights. You can see the city below. Look for the MOL tower that is under construction. Turn around to view the surrounding nature. The rolling hills create a beautiful landscape.

Let’s start our tour near the small chapel. We will not climb Calvary Hill today. Instead, we’ll walk along the Budaörsi-árok bank. Follow the red stripe. Follow the red plus tourist signs. Cross a small bridge. You will find these signs on Máriavölgy street.

We begin by climbing Odvas-hegy. From there, we’ll pass Farkas-hegy. Then we will reach Szekrényes-hegy. This is the highest peak in Budaörsi kopárok. Take your time.

Walk along Budakeszi street. Notice the houses. You will see the rocky outline of Odvas-hegy. A short climb will get your heart pumping. You will need to hold onto the rocks.

The asphalt will disappear. Nature will surround you. We will walk through a plant tunnel. Even in winter, it is beautiful. Imagine this tunnel in spring. Everything will be green and blooming.

Rest at the top of Odvas-hegy. Although we have just started our tour, the view is great. Look at the Budaörs rooftops below. See the remains of an abandoned quarry. Kő-hegy is also visible.

The white dolomite rocks stand out. The grassy area is covered with small flowers in spring. This creates a Mediterranean feel. The highway noise reminds you of reality.

Take some photos of the mountain panorama. The next stop is Farkas-hegy. Any hill can be our next destination. We will descend on a crumbly path. Turn left onto a wide gravel road. Turn left again.

Do not worry if it looks like we are returning. The tour is not over yet. The wide path is lined with Odvas-hegy’s gray stone wall. The path narrows. The signs fade. Keep going. We will reach the familiar junction above the large rock.

Follow the red signs. Now we are heading towards Farkas-hegy.

A wide cart path leads into a young forest. We will walk uphill for a while. The path descriptions say a few minutes. It will take at least ten. The signs disappear. Do not worry. Keep going into the forest.

After ten minutes, we will emerge from the trees. Turn left. Follow the red signs. Stay on the wide road. Follow the red cross. We will reach a Natura 2000 sign. There is also a barrier. Continue on.

Farkas-hegy will appear. It features an iconic memorial. It is made of airplane wings.

Spend some time here. Turn around to see every detail. A steep path awaits. Get some energy. Climbing Szekrényes-hegy takes us to the highest point. The view is even better than before.

In winter, you cannot sit on the ground. Lean against the rocks. If the sun is shining, turn your face toward it. You can see János-hegy. See the houses of Budakeszi. Look at the Csíki hills. Notice the gates of Szállás-hegy.

Return down the steep path we came up. The other path is easy to miss. It is so steep that you might fall. Do not tempt fate. The red cross marks a forest walk. It turns into asphalt. We will return to Budaörs’ weekend houses. Finally, we are back at Calvary Square. This completes our tour of Budaörsi kopárok TT.
