In Ushuaia Argentina the municipality organized a commemorative act. They inaugurated the Brotes de una nueva conciencia monument on the World Day of Traffic Victims. This day is solemnly observed.
Gladis Bizzozzero spoke. She is the vice president of the National Network of Traffic Victims. Pedro Delheye also spoke. He is the coordinator of the Community Committee of the National Road Safety Agency. Oscar Rubinos the Municipal Secretary of Government, shared his thoughts too. The Flores brothers played a song. It honors the victims. Sirens wailed across the country. They marked a minute of silence. A plaque was unveiled at the monument’s base. It read “Brotes de una nueva Conciencia”.
Oscar Rubinos said they wanted the monument ready for this special day. He sent greetings from Intendente Federico Sciurano. He also acknowledged Juan Munafó. Both were deeply involved in this project.
Rubinos reflected on the need for collaboration. He emphasized the municipality’s efforts in prevention. New high-definition cameras have been installed. Technology upgrades aided traffic inspectors. More inspectors joined the force. In December they will present a city accident map. This map will pinpoint accident hotspots.
Rubinos addressed the families. He said the monument recognizes their fight. They strive to prevent future tragedies. He thanked Gladis Bizzozzero for her dedication.
Many attended the ceremony. Families of victims were present. Government officials and council members also attended.
The monument arose from a national contest. The Ministry of the Interior and Transport launched it in 2010. Daniel Wolf an industrial designer and artist, won.
Buenos Aires was the first city with the Brotes de una nueva conciencia Sculpture. Ushuaia followed. Mendoza and Salta would have theirs soon after.
Ema Cibotti wrote about the sculpture. She noted its inauguration on December 16. The silver semaphore sculpture is in a plaza. It is located near the Universidad de la Empresa Argentina UADE.
Daniel Wolf Rosana Gasparini Vanesa Hojenberg and Pedro Schwarzbock created it. They won the national sculpture contest. It was called “Commitment and Memory for Traffic Victims.”
Florencio Randazzo attended the inauguration. He was the Minister of the Interior. Felipe Rodríguez Laguens was also there. He is the director of the ANSV. Diego Santilli Minister of Environment and Public Space of Buenos Aires, joined too. Families of traffic accident victims were present.
Ema Cibotti noted the effort to create this monument. It raises awareness for drivers and pedestrians. It complements the stars marking accident fatalities.
