What if I told you this church building houses not one, but three different congregations? Right here, at the Brookdale Covenant Church, a truly inspiring story of unity and shared faith unfolds. The Brookdale Covenant Church, originally founded 125 years ago as Camden Covenant Church, has a long and fascinating history. It started as a humble gathering of about 20 Swedish immigrants who came together in a private home seeking spiritual solace and community. Their journey led them to Brooklyn Center in 1956, where the Brookdale Covenant Church found its current home. This house of worship doesn’t just serve one denomination. The Laotian Covenant Church joined the fold in 1997, adding another layer of cultural richness to the Brookdale community. Then, in 2020, the newly formed Nuestra Esperanza Covenant Church, led by Hector and Betty Reyes, found a home within these walls. This coming together of three diverse congregations under one roof showcases the power of faith to bridge cultural and linguistic divides. Each Sunday, within the same sanctuary, services are held in English, Spanish, and Lao, a testament to the diversity that thrives within the Brookdale Covenant Church. It’s not just about sharing space; it’s about sharing resources, skills, and a common vision for serving God and the community. The Brookdale Covenant Church’s story is a powerful reminder that unity and shared faith can exist even amidst diversity, creating something truly beautiful and inspiring for us all.
