“Lost amidst the urban sprawl, Broad Green Library stands as a beacon of knowledge.” Broad Green Library isn’t located in the heart of the traditional Broad Green area. It’s actually situated further west, closer to West Croydon. This quirky fact often surprises visitors. The original Broad Green area developed around a triangular green space at the end of the 19th century. It featured shops, houses, and even a cinema called the Safari Cinema, sadly demolished in 2005. While the library might not be geographically central to historical Broad Green, it serves a crucial role for the wider community, including West Croydon.
