Hidden within the bustling Bonifacio Global City, the British School Manila holds a story waiting to be unveiled. The British School Manila isn’t just a school. It’s a living testament to the power of education and community. Founded in 1976, the British School Manila began its journey with just 32 students and two classrooms, nestled within the walls of the old Union Church. Fast forward to today, and the British School Manila boasts over 950 students from 52 nationalities, a vibrant tapestry of cultures and perspectives. The school’s history is etched into its very architecture. In 2001, the British School Manila moved from its Merville, Parañaque location to its current purpose-built campus in Bonifacio Global City. The buildings themselves bear witness to this journey, with names like Anilao, Boracay, Cebu, Dinagyang, El Nido, Fiesta, and Rizal echoing the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines. The British School Manila provides a British education, adapting the National Curriculum of England for students up to Year 9. Older students embark on IGCSE and IB Diploma programs, preparing them for university and beyond. The school’s commitment extends beyond academics. The British School Manila’s Creative Arts Centre, a marvel of modern design, is a hub for budding artists, musicians, and performers. This four-level center houses drama and dance spaces, music rooms, art studios, and even a climbing wall and open-air auditorium. In 2015, a royal visit by Princess Anne marked another significant moment in the school’s history. The princess unveiled a plaque commemorating the school’s new sports facilities. These facilities include an 8-lane 25-meter swimming pool and two sports fields catering to a range of activities, from football and rugby to cricket and athletics. The British School Manila also champions sustainability. In 2023, the school partnered with the Department of Energy to implement energy-efficient practices. This partnership culminated in the launch of a solar plant on campus. This initiative reflects the school’s dedication to environmental responsibility. The British School Manila isn’t just preparing students for exams. It is nurturing global citizens. Through its Service Learning program and over 200 after-school activities, students develop a wide range of skills. They also learn the importance of giving back to the community. The British School Manila stands as a beacon of educational excellence, a place where students are empowered to learn, grow, and make a difference.
