The Bransford Plaque stands tall and proud against the backdrop of Colleyville, Texas. It’s a marker of a simpler time, a time before the hustle and bustle of modern life. It tells the story of a small community that once thrived, a community that was once the beating heart of agriculture in this part of Texas. The inscription on the plaque paints a vivid picture of a town full of life. There was a post office, two daily passenger trains, four doctors, two blacksmith shops, a livery stable, four general stores, and a lodge hall. The railroads were a vital lifeline, bringing in supplies and connecting people to the wider world. The Bransford Lodge Hall was the center of community life, hosting four groups: the Odd Fellows, Woodmen of the World, Knights of Modern Macabees, and the Farmers Union. It was a place where neighbors gathered, shared stories, and celebrated life.

But as the years passed, the town of Bransford began to fade away. The arrival of the automobile and the construction of new highways meant that the railroads were no longer the only way to travel. The once-bustling Bransford Post Office closed its doors in 1913, marking the beginning of the end for the town. By the time the city of Colleyville was incorporated in 1956, most reminders of the town had vanished. But not the Bransford Plaque. It stands as a testament to a forgotten time, a time when life moved at a slower pace, and community mattered more than anything.
