Imagine strolling down Boulevard du Delta a Parisian street named after a vibrant garden. This wasn’t just any garden. It was the Jardin du Delta a place of lively celebrations resembling the famed Tivoli gardens. The Boulevard du Delta itself is relatively short just 200 meters long but rich in history.

Opened in 1825 it sits in the 9th arrondissement. Its name evokes the Nile Delta and the fantastical adventures of Napoleon’s Egyptian campaign. The street’s origins lie on land from the old Clos Saint-Lazare. It was developed by Lambin and Louis Guillaume. A royal ordinance authorized its creation. A ministerial decision officially named it Rue du Delta.

Before the Boulevard’s creation stood the Jardin du Delta. This pleasure garden replaced the Egyptian Promenades which existed from 1819 to 1824. The Jardin du Delta provided a unique entertainment experience. It hosted lavish parties drawing inspiration from the legendary Tivoli gardens.

The Boulevard du Delta is easily accessible. The nearby Barbès-Rochechouart metro station (lines 2 and 4) provides convenient access. Several bus lines also stop nearby. The area is well connected to the rest of Paris. It’s a hidden gem. A testament to a lively past. A connection to Parisian history.

At number 7 a building holds a poignant memory. Around 1909 to 1913 it housed a dilapidated hotel. Thanks to the generosity of Dr Paul Alexandre it became a community workshop. Artists including Amedeo Modigliani worked there. Their presence adds to the vibrant character of the street.

The Boulevard du Delta is more than just a street. It is a piece of Parisian history. A reminder of a vibrant past. A quiet street that once buzzed with life. It stands as a witness to time. A testament to the transformations of Paris. Its name a subtle reminder of faraway lands and grand celebrations.
